 MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF THE
RAYMORE-PECULIAR BAND BOOSTERS CLUB, INC
March 15, 2022

The regular meeting of the Raymore-Peculiar Band Boosters Club was held in the band room. Those in attendance were: Libby Craig, Jennifer Story, Jennifer Gibson, Marian Pfeiler, Lisa Sorge, Mindy Muller, Bobbi Bond,Jonah Craig, Chris Thompson, Leann Thompson, Bo Helzer, Michele Helzer, Melissa Guyer.
The meeting was called to order by Jennifer Story at 7:01pm. Seconded by Mindy Muller

• Introductions
• Meeting Expectations and Bylaws Objectives :
  • Assist the RP Band program and directors
  • Promote enthusiasm and commitment to band among students, parents, school board and communities
• Support instrumental music education throughout the district
• To raise funds to finance or partially finance activities related to music education

Business Reports:  

• Motion to approve minutes from January booster meeting made by Lisa Sorge, seconded by Jennifer Story
• No meeting was held in February 2022

Director Report: Jennifer Gibson

• Solo and small ensembles: 17 groups got outstanding ratings= 32 students, 14 groups got Exemplary ratings=26 students.

Exemplary rated students go to Mizzou on April 29th for State Solos and Ensembles. This is an all day event. Parents are encouraged to come watch their students.

• Large Group Ensemble is 3/24 at Pleasant Hill High School. Times have been sent out in an email.
• Hawaii Update-Covid restrictions have been lifted. There will be 6 evening rehearsals starting after the Marching season.  There is a certain list of music that has to be played.  We will work on this in class, too.
• High School Band Auditions will be 3/31 starting at 4:30pm.  Students already have the music.  It is also the music for 2022/23 All District Band Auditions. There will be 6-7 people coming to judge. Ms. Gibson asked for the Boosters to pay $80 each. Jennifer Story made the motion, Lisa Sorge seconded. Motion approved by all in attendance.
• Marching Band Fees- Fall of 2020 and 2021-if not paid- put on a waiting list.  Fees must be paid by 4/30 in order to be eligible to be part of the drill.  Drill has to be ordered 5/2. Families will be contacted to make them aware of the benevolence program.
• 2022/23 Marching Band fees are being put together now-trying to make it cheaper. May try to come up with a payment plan. Will have this decided by the April 12 meeting.
• May 9- Concert
• May 24- Band Awards
• Fall 2022- only 4 competitions due to Hawaii trip.: Blue Springs South, Lee's Summit North, Harrisonvile, Odessa, Raymore Parade. Also 5 home Football games.
• Summer Marching Band- Color Guard is finding a new coach. Their camps will most likely be the last 2 weeks of July, Percussion begins July 25-29- probably 7-2, Full band begins 8/1-5 and possibly 8/8-12 depending on teacher work days,
• Marching Band rehearsals- starting 8/22- Mondays- Brass, Woodwinds and Color Guard only, Tuesdays- Percussion only, Wednesdays- Full Group, Thursday evenings-full group, Fridays off unless there is a game. Mondays that are non attendance days would still have rehearsals.
• May 7th- 5K Walk for Health in Belton. We have been asked to play.
• Mattress Sale date has been set for 12/10/22 in the Big Gym at RPHS-all day event, Will need to set up shifts for adults.
• Fundraiser-would like to have one before the end of the school year.

Treasurer Report:  Marian

• Account totals-not available at the time of the meeting
• Invoices- Sound System $4,000 has been paid
• Fall Programs- Still have some ads that need to be paid- need to make a plan for next year.
• Gateway has sent check for 2 refunds for Hawaii trip,
• Mattress Sale-need to update student accounts
• P.O. Box has been paid
• Website domain fees have been paid

Uniforms: Lisa Sorge

• After Spring Break-would like to break the marching band bags down and send them to cleaners, so they can be back while students are still here.  Would like to reset bags for the returning marchers,
• We need to find a new uniform chair- Lisa is stepping down due to upcoming surgery,
• Need to replace pink gloves 
• Socks-do we incorporate them into band fees?

Fundraising Committee-Mindy Muller

• We need to find something for the end of the year- will be presented in April. Suggestions: Donut cards/Sonic cards, Candy bars, Butterbraids or something else that they sell, Carwash?.

Color Guard-

• no update

Band Dads: 

• No updates
• Mr. Stanley is excited about getting the backdrop pictures

Chuckwagon: 

• Victoria has changed jobs and has asked Bobbi Bond to take over for the rest of the year, She has agreed and Boosters approved.
• Ms. Gibson would like something for breakfast for the kids going to State solos/ensembles.
• For Marching Season- can we do other drinks along with water?

New Business.

• Do we need to have a trip committee- Ms. Gibson will ask Mr. Jarrett
• Need to come up with a Nominating Committee for next years officers- Appointed- Marian Pfeiler, Michele Helzer, and Bobbi Bond
• Officers needed- President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer (Marian willing to continue)
• We need a new band shed that we could park a Gator in.  We also need a Gator.
