June 2015 Minutes

June 9, 2015

The regular meeting of the Raymore-Peculiar Band Boosters Club was held on June 9, 2015 in the South High School library.  Those in attendance were:  John Wilson, Dillon Jarrett, Brandon McCoy, Debbie Elrod, Dana Wilhite, Jennifer Schrivener, Alison Bruflat, Brian Kincaid, Julie Adolfson, Kellie Norton, Kim Sickler, Scott Bradley, Robert Hecker, Julie Land, Tracy Caskey, Sherri Jungman and Sandi McIntosh.

The meeting was called to order at 7:00pm.

Meeting Minutes Approval:  The May 11, 2015 minutes were reviewed and a motion to approve was made by Mike McIntosh and seconded by Kellie Norton.  Motion carried.

Director’s Report – John Wilson

• The DCI show at UCM is on July 13th.  There have been about 30 students’ sign up to go so far.  Tickets are $22.00 each.
  
  
• The Drum Majors attended the Phantom Regime Camp in Rockford, Illinois.  They did a good job and had a good time.  Mr. Wilson asked for funds to pay for the Drum Majors camp fees which the Band Boosters have paid in the past.  Sandi McIntosh made the motion to pay the $1,050 and it was seconded by Tracy Caskey.  The motion carried.
  
  
• Unveiling of the music for the 2015 show will be on Saturday, June 13th.
  
  
• Mr. Wilson introduced the new percussion director, Brandon McCoy.  Mr. McCoy stated he had been in the Oak Park school district for the past 10 years and has his degree from Missouri Western.
  
  

Communication’s Report – Dillon Jarrett

• Mr. Jarrett updated us that the current passenger list for Hawaii is at 179.
  
  
• He advised that an updated instrument manifest needs to be done for the trip for shipping purposes.  Each student needs to measure their instrument and go on the manifest and enter the information.  Large instruments do not have to be measured and entered.  Gateway needs this list for the airline.  The trip cost will include shipping of the instruments.
  
  
• As of today’s date, there are only 169 days until departure for Hawaii.
  
  
• A rooming list will be starting soon.  People going can go onto the Gateway website and enter roommate preferences – both adults and students need to do this.
  
  

Vice President Report – Dana Wilhite

• Nothing to report.
  
  

Treasurer’s Report – Jeff McDowell

• Nothing to report.
  
  

Fundraising – Kellie Norton

• On July 14th, a fundraiser will be held at Chipotle in Belton.
  
  
• Planned fundraisers for the fall include mum sales, Howl ‘n Glow, trash bags and Butter Braids.  Kellie Norton will be heading up the mum fundraiser and the cost of the mums will be $15.00 with the students getting $5.80 for their account for each mum sold.  Sherri Jungman will be heading up the Butter Braids fundraiser.
  
  

Uniform Chair Report – Tracey Caskey

• Marching band uniforms are back from the cleaners.  Concert attire has now been sent to the cleaners for cleaning.
  
  
• Mr. Wilson suggested that during one night of marching band camp that we hold a used marching band shoes sale to offer students the opportunity to buy band shoes.
  
  

Hospitality Chair Report – Kim Sickler

• Nothing to report.
  
  

Band Dad’s Chair Report – Mike McIntosh

• Jim Johnson is looking to find someone to put the decals on the new band trailer.  In addition, we now have ramps for the trailer.  Shelving will need to go in soon.  A few of the band dads and the directors will be going to other schools to look at the set-up of their band trailers for ideas for our trailer.
  
  

New Business

• Jennifer Schrivener advised that she has put together the football program for the Band Boosters for the past several years and wanted to let us know she is willing to do it again this year.  Proceeds from the sale of the football programs is a fundraiser for the Band Boosters.  The anticipated cost for the 2015 programs is $3,898.00 as there are 5 home football games for the 2015 season.  The sale of advertising for the program generally pays for the cost of the programs and the Band Boosters receive 100% profit from the sale.  Mr. Wilson made the motion to move forward with the programs and it was seconded by Kellie Norton.  The motion carried.
  
  
• Mr. Wilson advised that band student Carter Wilhite is drawing up plans for a new band tower for the directors.  
  
  
• For the past 2 years, the band has played the National Anthem at a Kansas City Royals game.  Mr. Wilson asked if there would be interest in having the band do this again as a fundraiser.  It was decided to pursue this again this year so Mr. Wilson will look into it.
  
  

A motion was made to adjourn the meeting at 7:35pm by Mike McIntosh and was seconded by Dana Wilhite.  The motion carried.
