​MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF THE
RAYMORE-PECULIAR BAND BOOSTERS CLUB, INC.
January 9, 2018
 
The regular meeting of the Raymore-Peculiar Band Boosters Club was held in the HS Band room.  Those in attendance were: Dana Wilhite, Allison Bruflat, Julie Adolphson, Kellie Norton, Melissa Hogan, John Wilson, Libby Craig, Travis Houston, Angela Weis.
 
The meeting was called to order by President Dana Wilhite at 7:02 p.m.
 

• Introductions
• Meeting Expectations and Bylaws Objectives:
  • Assist the RP Band program and directors
  • Promote enthusiasm and commitment to band among students, parents, school board and communities
• Support instrumental music education throughout the district
• To raise funds to finance or partially finance activities related to music education

 
Business Reports: 

• The minutes from the November 14, 2017 meeting were reviewed.
• A motion to approve the minutes was made by Kellie Norton, seconded by Melissa Hogan; the motion carried.

 
Treasurer’s  Report: Allison Bruflat

• We currently have $30, 062.17 with about $14,000 in student ledgers.
• The amount outstanding for students is about $1,400.
• Dana Wilhite made a motion to accept the Treasurer’s Report, Kellie Norton seconded; motion carried.

 
Director’s Report: Mr. Wilson

• All-District Band was Jan 6-7 at UCM; 58 RayPec students participated.
• District Jazz will be at Smith-Cotton Jr High on this weekend, Jan 12-13; Brooke  Hord, Darren Fields, and Doug Adolphson will participate.
• All State Band, we have 4 students going.
• Tantara trip, Brooke Hord, Zane Brown, and Tammy Yang
• Music for Solo and Ensemble will be distributed soon.
• Trip Meeting on Jan 4 was big success; Mattress fundraiser (1/28) ran out of signs/flyers.
• February 11, 2pm concert; 7th and 8th grade and all HS bands. Will likely need both sides of gym bleachers set up.
• Chicago Trip: Rooming list nearly done. Would like to rent a U-Haul for instruments and uniforms. Racks for uniforms?  John Wilson made a motion to get U-haul, Kellie Norton seconded; motion carried.
• New drumset for jazz band needed; cost $1700 max. Allison Bruflat made a motion to buy a new set, Kellie Norton seconded; motion carried.
• We need new marching uniforms, drumline, sousaphones, trombones, mellophones, and staff (colorguard). Mr. Wilson has sent a request to the administration.

 
Committee Reports:
 
Fundraising - Kellie Norton
 

• Father/Daughter Dance – Sherry Dubois – Meeting going at time of booster meeting.
• Mattress Fundraiser – January 28.
• New idea:  Cell phone accessories. Kellie Norton will look more into this and send to boosters. This fundraiser includes a 50% profit and no handling of merchandise (all online).

 
Old Business

• A Motion was made by Melissa Hogan and seconded by Libby Craig to accept bylaws changes as presented in November. The motion carried.

 
New Business

• New officers are needed for 2018 (they normally assume duties in July). All positions will be open.
• Some schools combine choir with band boosters. There are pros and cons, this may be discussed further.
• We discussed sponsors, who would have spots in concert programs as well as football program. Consensus was that a committee should be formed to organize and execute.

 
The meeting adjourned at 7:52 pm (Dana Wilhite motioned, Kellie Norton seconded). Next meeting February 13, 2018, at 7pm, RPHS Band Room.
