About RP Jazz
RP Jazz is comprised of a group of talented and dedicated student musicians at RayPec High School. Under the direction of Mr. Shupe, the band performs a variety of jazz styles, including swing, bebop, fusion and latin/afro-cuban. The band always strives for a high level of performance and musicianship, and consistently receives praise from audiences and judges alike. The band prides itself on its versatility within the complex genre of jazz, and it frequently features soloists from within the group, as well as from the community in its performances.
In addition to regular performances at school events, the band also competes in local and regional jazz festivals, earning top honors and recognition. Kansas City has a huge connection to jazz history and this auditioned ensemble is dedicated to promoting that rich history in RayPec.
