The meeting was called to order at 7:05 by Libby Craig.

MINUTES
A motion was made by Michelle Houston to approve the February minutes as written. The motion was seconded by Holly Nall. The motion was voted on and approved.

DIRECTOR REPORTS
Band: Jennifer Byrne

• Schedule for next year: 1st hour – wind symphony, 2nd hour – AP music, 3rd hour – symphonic band, 7th hour – campus band 
• Band auditions after school on Wednesday, April 10 from 3:30-5:30. Judges are coming in for brass, woodwinds, and percussion.
• Results from MSHSAA State Large Group Festival: Symphonic Band – Outstanding (Silver), Wind Symphony - Exemplary (Gold). The judges gave good feedback. We may be able to have the large group festival here next year. 
• Marching Band Kickoff: 4/15 at 6:30 pm in the media center. The new show will be announced. Every student should attend with at least one parent, and all info (fees, forms, etc) will be passed out. Some kids are going to help after school. Parents who want to help should show up by 6:00.
• Upcoming Events: percussion concert - 5/1 in the media center, final concert - 5/9 at 6:30 in the high school auditorium, 5/20 - band awards in the media center or auditorium. 
• New news! We are hiring a fifth director! Mr. Lineberry will be at the high school for percussion. The new person will be at the 9th Grade Center and East Middle School and will help out with marching band. 

 
 Jazz Band: Mr. Shupe

• Information will be coming out about coming out about the 18th and Vine Festival on 4/19. 

 
Color Guard: Melissa Guyer

• The final competition was last Saturday in Springfield.
• Around 20 have signed up to audition on 4/9-10 for fall color guard. 
• Color Guard Clinic was on 4/4, and six new girls attended the clinic. The Showcase was last Thursday, and girls got to do a duet or solo.
• Kelsey wanted to know if there was any interest in selling senior mums, and if so, she would help make them.
• Kelsey wants to take the color guard girls to K-State this summer. They would stay the week and get to practice and perform with the K-State Color Guard. She wants to do another fairy princess photo shoot experience in June as a fundraiser to help pay for the camp. In the evening, K-State is going to let them use space to work on band camp routines. She’s also working on getting sponsors for the girls who want to go.

OFFICER REPORTS
Vice President/Fundraising: Michelle Houston

• The calendar fundrasier was a success. Twenty-eight students participated, and they raised nearly $5,000. 
• The trash bag fundraiser will go through 4/30, and trash bag pickup will be Tuesday, 5/7. Students will earn $3.50 for each plastic roll and $2 for the paper bags. Plastic rolls sell for $12, and five paper bags sell for $5. 

Treasurer: Marian Pfeiler

• We have just under 11K in profit, and we will put that money in the Gator fund.
• Bank balance: 75K.
• A new program is replacing Charms, and Marian will transfer all the info/funds. 
• New PO Box: PO Box 1293 
• A discussion was held on whether or not to continue selling football programs. Our profit last year on the programs was 3K. We also discussed creating a concert program that sells ads like orchestra does. The group decided to continue football programs for at least one more year. Libby Craig made a motion that we create concert programs next year, and Michelle Houston seconded the motion. The motion was voted on and approved.

 
Chuckwagon: Bobbi Bond 

• The food from Mojitos after the Large Group Festival was a huge success. 
• Breakfast will be provided for students going to State.
• We have $600 to work with to use for breakfast and the banquet.

 
Uniforms: Libby Craig

• The bibbers are in bags, and the jackets need to be put back in bags.

 
NEW BUSINESS

The regular meeting of the Raymore-Peculiar Band Boosters Club was held in the band room. DIRECTOR REPORTS
Band: Jennifer Byrne

• Saturday, March 16 is the MSHSAA District Solo and Small Ensemble Festival at Grain Valley High School. The bus will leave at 6:30 am or parents can take their kids. Students need to let Mrs. Byrne know how they are getting to and from the festival. Busses will leave at 1:30, 4:00, and 4:30.  
• Monday, April 15 is the marching band kickoff meeting in the media center of the auditorium. At least one parent should come with their student(s). Mrs. Byrne will talk about the 0 absence attendance policy for fall. 
• MSHSAA State Large Group is on Thursday, April 5 during the school day. There was a discussion about providing lunch for the students. 
• Pictures for the senior banner photos will be taken on Tuesday, March 19 during wind symphony. Students can wear either concert tuxes or concert black. The students at Cass Career Center will come back for pictures in the afternoon. 
• The group discussed paying for background checks for technicians but ultimately decided this was the responsibility of the technicians.
• Mrs. Byrne showed the attendees pictures of the new Performing Arts Center!
  
  
  

Color Guard: Kelsey Walker

• The K-State Color Guard Clinic is on March 16 and is for anyone interested in having a collegiate guard experience. The deadline to sign up is March 13.
• The winter showcase will be on April 4. There will be an optional audition clinic before the showcase.
• Fall Color Guard auditions are on April 9-10.
• There is one competition left at Lee’s Summit North and then the State Championship in April.
• They were considering doing a summer color guard camp with Belton, but they are now waiting until next summer.

OFFICER REPORTS
Vice President/Fundraising: Michelle Houston

• Forms for the calendar fundraiser are due on March 15 but can be turned in anytime.
• The trash bag fundraiser will be in April.
• We need to get the lights back from the student senate, and Holly would like her tomato cage gnome back! 

Treasurer: Marian Pfeiler

• Winter Guard just did a candle fundraiser, and they made $320. The candle was $20, and each student made $10 for each candle sold. We might consider doing something like this for band, as well.
• The group discussed selling snacks at Monday’s concert. 
• There is 71K in checking with only a couple of checks outstanding. Right now we are at 10K profit, and there is about 7K for the Gator fund. 
• Over 5K in Gateway checks have been sent.
• The PO Box is due, but the cost has gone up and is now $400 a year.
• There are just under $500 of football ads that people haven’t paid. It may be easier just to write it off. 

 
COMMITTEE REPORTS
Chuckwagon: Bobbi Bond

• The group discussed providing food for students attending the MSHSAA State Large Group competition and possibly serving cupcakes at the marching band kick-off event. 

Band Dads: Chris Thompson

• The band dads are going to try to haul stuff out of the trailer on Wednesday at around 5:30. They need to take the props apart and may put them in Shirley. 
• We need to check on maintenance for the trailer. 

Uniforms: LeeAnne Thompson

• Uniforms need to be put back together.

 NEW BUSINESS

• Elections: we will need a new president for next year, and it would be good to have an assistant for Marian’s position. We also may consider dividing the vice president position into two or more different positions. Elections need to be held by May.

MINUTES
A motion was made by Michelle Houston to approve the January minutes as written.  The motion was seconded by Marian Pfeiler.  The motion was voted on and approved.
DIRECTOR REPORTS
Band: Jennifer Byrne

• Thank you to all who helped put on the Father-Daughter Dance.  It was a success.  We received several great comments from the dads about the event.
  
• The music directors had the opportunity to tour the new PAC building. Mrs. Byrne shared pictures and information about the space.  Special acoustic paneling will be installed making it a perfect recital venue for the band program. Construction should be completed in May.  The new venue will open in the Fall.
  
• The All-State Band performance was fantastic. Senior Riley Zimmerman attended and performed. It was a great experience.
  
• Jazz I and Jazz II will be competing at Ottawa University on Thursday.
  
• The Band directors are working on finalizing a Marching Band calendar for this fall. There will be some changes in rehearsal times from what we have had before. Also, stricter policies on attendance will be implemented. 
  

Color Guard: Kelsey Walker

• New Cadet Guard is going well. Half of the team are 8th graders and will be in high school next year.
  
• The Guard had their first competition on February 3rd. They will compete again at MSU this coming weekend,
  
• Looking into possibly doing a summer camp program in tandem with Belton.
  
• Still exploring grant options for a possible KSU camp.
  
• Finished candle fundraiser.
  

OFFICER REPORTS
Vice President/Fundraising: Michelle Houston

• Shared dance results. Over $17k profit. 67 band/orchestra/color guard families participated in planning or working the event. There were over 1,000 attendees.  It was a very successful event.
  
• In March, we will begin a calendar fundraiser.
  
• In April, we will be selling trash bags again.
  

Treasurer: Marian Pfeiler

• Financials are up to date through 2/17.
  
• Provided an update on current finances.
  
• Profits from Father-Daughter dance have been distributed and student statements have been sent out.
  
• Outlined the remaining expenses we should have this year and what our expected profit/loss for the year will be.
  
• Florida trip payments have been coming in.
  

COMMITTEE REPORTS
Chuckwagon: Bobbi Bond

• Provided snacks for today’s percussion clinic.
  
• Discussed the possibility of providing food or snacks for upcoming events:  March 16 Solo and Ensembles in Grain Valley, March 18 Pre-State Concert, April 5 Large Group Performance in Grain Valley.
  

Band Dads: Jason Heuwinkel

• Thank you to Don Mott for the large tree project idea.  
  
• Discussed the future trailer storage location.
  

Uniforms: LeeAnne Thompson

• Cleaning expenses for marching band uniforms were less than expected.
  
• Tuxes will be used again for Wind Symphony concert.
  

NEW BUSINESS

• The Color Guard is planning to sell their existing floor mat and get a new one.
  
• July 23rd will be the summer MB Kickoff Event.
