MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF THE
RAYMORE-PECULIAR BAND BOOSTERS CLUB, INC.
April 9, 2019

The regular meeting of the Raymore-Peculiar Band Boosters Club was held in the cafeteria at South Middle School.  Those in attendance were: Melissa Hogan, Trina Westhues, Faye Tait, Catie Howlett, John Wilson, Libby Craig, Tara Spencer, Jennifer Story, Travis Houston, Fred Baumgardner, Laurel Baumgardner, Jen Inman, R.J.Hurley, Kelli Hurley, Arla Beneke.


The meeting was called to order by Trina Westhues at 7:00pm

• Introductions
  
• Meeting Expectations and Bylaws Objectives:
  
  • Assist the RP Band program and directors
    
  • Promote enthusiasm and commitment to band among students, parents, school board and communities
    
• Support instrumental music education throughout the district
  
• To raise funds to finance or partially finance activities related to music education
  

Business Reports:  

• The minutes from the March 12, 2019  meeting were reviewed. Motion to approve minutes -Jennifer, seconded Melissa Hogan. No discussion
  

Treasurer’s  Report: Faye Tait and Diana Edgecomb

• No treasurer report
  
• Trip all paid for-broke even
  

Committee Reports:
Color Guard-

• April 29-May 1st Tryouts
  

Fundraising -Kelli Hurley

• We need a Chair
  
• Culver’s Night rescheduled
  

• Plant Sale 5/4 8-1 in Raymore City Hall Parking Lot- we need parents and students to help
  
• Freezing Moo 5/9 12-9pm
  
• Trash bags starting next week- due May 3rd, delivery May 9 then release May 10 at band awards
  

Field Crew/Band Dads-Brent Riegert -Head Band Dad

• suggestion  to have band boosters and directors meet with 8th grade parents, have breakout sessions-band dads, uniforms, fees, volunteer coordinator
  
• suggestion to use Remind for notifications
  

Uniforms – Jen Inman

• getting ready to go out for cleaning
  
• new uniforms will arrive 6 months or so from ordering-still finalizing design choice
  
• discussed using alteration shop for hemming- Arla Beneke volunteered to hem if pants are pinned
  

Concert Wear- Lynette Grant

• no updates
  

Chuckwagon – Tricia Kelley

• Tricia knows about last event
  

Director’s Report:

• State Large Ensemble- All 4 groups received Exemplary Ratings
  
• District Solos and small ensembles- Less 1’s this year-grading harder
  
• Getting bids for designs for new marching uniforms
  

-wash and wear uniforms
-lighterweight, wicking material

• State solos and ensembles April 26
  
• need to line up Drum Majors
  
• proposed marching schedule handed out
  

.New Business

• Football programs-need to vote in May
  
• Sponsorship levels-need to get this off the ground
  
• Next year solos and ensemble the first weekend of Spring Break
  
• Discussed Band Fees for 2019/20 year-motion for $330 flat fee, $110 due May 30th made by Faye Tait seconded by Catie Howlett- motion passed
