The regular meeting of the Raymore-Peculiar Band Boosters Club was held in the vocal music room of the South Raymore-Peculiar High School building.  Those in attendance were: Cyndee Byous, Kellie Norton, Kim Roberts, Kelli Hurley, Jennifer Inman, Kim Sickler, Scott Bradley, Chris Wilhite, Jennifer Scrivener, Chad Schroeder, Jackie Dorweiler, Sherry Dubois, Elizabeth Craig, Melissa Hogan, Celia Squires, Angela Weiss, Sandi Williams, Dillon Jarrett, Jennifer Gibson, Travis Houston, Allison Bruflat, Tracy Caskey, Julie Adolphson, Dana Wilhite, and Alec Adolphson.
 
The meeting was called to order by President Allison Bruflat at 7:04 p.m. 

• Introductions
• Meeting Expectations: Allison read the booster Objectives:
  • a) To assist the Raymore-Peculiar Band program and the Band Directors b) To promote an enthusiastic commitment for all facets of the Band Program, among: students, parents/guardians, School Board, and the communities of Raymore, Peculiar, and surrounding areas. c) To support activities of interest for instrumental music education within the Raymore-Peculiar School District. d) To raise funds to finance or partially finance the activities related to music education, to supply logistical support for the program, and provide other items and supplies for the program not furnished by the Raymore-Peculiar School District.
  • Allison reminded all that if you change the subject, you owe a quarter ($.25) to be placed in the change jar.

 
Meeting Minutes Approval: 

• The minutes from the July 2016 meeting were reviewed and corrected (names)
• A motion to approve the minutes was made by Kim Roberts, seconded by Melissa Hogan; the motion carried.

 
Treasurer’s Report:  Tracy Caskey

• Tracy distributed transactions(7/1 – 8/8); General fund currently has $27,118.91
• Chipotle night (7/26) was a success, $624.70 profit.
• A motion to accept the treasurer’s report was made by Kellie Norton, seconded by Sherry Dubois; the motion carried.

• Band lunch was a success
• Family Picnic: August 11; BBQ hamburgers and hot dogs to be cooked by Alec Adolphson and Chris Wilhite; families will bring sides, desserts, etc.
  • Picture re-takes at family picnic; additional orders of sub-groups available through Jennifer Scrivener or John Wilson
  • Uniform re-fitting and shoes will be done as well

Fall Football Programs Jennifer Scrivener

• Program will be finalized and sent to printer next week
• All ads are sold; if any more available Jennifer will notify Boosters
• Look for a sign up soon for help to sell at games (6 people per game)

Father/Daughter Dance Sherry Dubois and Melissa Hogan

• February 4, 2017
• Tracy mentioned a form on the school website to schedule the building
• A start-up fee of $300 has been authorized for past year’s committees; Sherry will handle

Field Crew/Band Dads Chris Wilhite

• Requested $300 for Scrims (panels 4’ x 8’) in front of field
• Props were discussed (eg, New York skyline; New Year’s “Ball”); directors need to discuss
• Kellie Norton made a motion for $400 for 8 panels; Melissa Hogan seconded; motion carried
• Shed will be fixed after school starts

Mums Dana Wilhite

• Order forms available first week of school; due back by September 7th
• Delivery likely 9/22; volunteers needed to help distribute
• Each plant will cost $9.15; sell for $20

Trash Bags Kim Roberts

• Forms to be handed out at family picnic
• Delivery will be 9/29, 5-7pm

Big Daddy’s Donuts Caren Homer

• Was scheduled for 10/28, but that will be St Louis trip

Monopoly Game Cyndee Byous

• Working on graphic design; planning to have it done this week (8/8)

Howl and Glow

• Good fundraiser; better the first year; will consider for Spring 2017

Band Uniforms: Jen Inman

• Concert wear will be fitted soon, Celia Squires will help Jen; Marching Band re-fits/shoes will be 8/11

• Contracts are needed; Tracy will provide previous year’s
• Racks in hallway need to be put away (Band Dads)

• Pizza on last day of Band Camp went well
• Kellie Norton presented donation check to Tracy Caskey; needs $20 for Color Guard Expert

Director’s Report: Mr. Wilson via email:

• Band camp went fantastic. Thank you to:
• Kellie Norton for providing lunch opportunities and the Shave Iced Truck. Also, thank you to the person that picked up the bill for the shaved ice.
• Also, thank you to everyone who helped serve pizza.
• I know some of you were not happy with picture night. But that was probably the smoothest and quickest picture night in all of my years teaching here.
• Thank you to everyone who helped with uniforms from altering to fitting.
• Thanks to Chris Wilhite for coming up to school and unlocking the trailer so the drum majors could have their podiums.
• The entire first movement and part of the second movement is on the field with movement and music!
• The Band has also learned a preshow routine for pre-game.
• Make sure that all parents wear tennis shoes and comfortable clothing this Thursday night. You will get a chance to march with your student!
• Zach Barber was hired and taught the entire routine to the color guard. Kelsy Kurdle helped with camp. Sarah Keck and Jennie Schmitt helped and are student teaching this year. Travis Houston led fundamentals and drum line. Jennifer and Dillon taught fundamentals. I led music and drill. Camp was very efficient and fun!
• We will start practices after school on the first day of school.
• I am not sure if we will perform any of the half time show at the first game but everyone needs to attend as this is senior night.
