Ray-Pec Band students performed at the District Solo and Small Ensemble Festival in Grain Valley Friday, March 28 and Saturday, March 29, 2014. Judges rate each performance as Division I (Exemplary), Division II (Outstanding), Division III (Satisfactory), Division IV (Developing), or Division V (Ineffective). Students who receive a Division I (Exemplary) rating will perform their music at the state level May 2, 2014 on campus at MU in Columbia.

Three students from the Raymore-Peculiar Band participated in the 2014 Missouri All-State Band. Earning a seat in the All-State Band is the highest honor a high school band student can receive. Students from all across the state audition for this group. To be eligible, students must first audition and make the All-District level band. The band rehearsed at Tan-Tar-A Resort in Osage Beach during the Missouri Music Educators Association conference held Wednesday, January 22, 2014 through Saturday, January 25, 2014. The All-State Band performed on the final day of the music conference under the direction of Dr. Mallory Thompson, Director of Bands, Northwestern University. Several additional Raymore-Peculiar band students received honors for their audition to the All-State Band. Sawyer Bletscher was named as an alternate and Mara Beedle, Drew Evans, and Daichi Tadokoro were listed in the Honorable Mention Band. Two students from Raymore-Peculiar High School earned a place in the Missouri All-State Band. This band is filled with outstanding musicians who first made the All-District Band and then competed against the other top musicians in the state. The All-State Band is a huge honor for high school students. It is one of the most difficult honors to achieve and it offers an amazing experience for the students involved. From Ray-Pec, Logan Jungman and Jack Renfro were selected after a rigorous audition process in Columbia, Missouri. The students prepared several very difficult musical passages as well as their major, melodic minor, and chromatic scales. Logan earned fourth chair tuba and Jack earned second chair tenor saxophone. Congratulations to the Ray-Pec High School students named to All-District Band. The All-District Band will present a concert Jan. 5 at the University of Central Missouri, Warrensburg.
