Welcome!
If your 5th grader currently attends Eagle Glen...you are in the right place!
At Eagle Glen, current 5th graders are eligible to sign up for 6th grade band. Although most Eagle Glen students will attend East Middle School, we know that some might attend South Middle School. No matter which middle school your child attends, we have a great band program ready for you!
Ray-Pec has a strong tradition of excellent bands...in fact, the band program has over 600 students in grades 6-12 and is the largest student group in the entire school.
We know that band is a new experience for most families and we want to make joining as easy as possible. Answers to the most common questions and details for the entire enrollment process are available on this page.

A message from Ms. Gibson...
Why Band?
Music education opens doors that help children pass from school into the world around them...a world of work, culture, intellectual activity, and human involvement. The future of our nation depends on providing our children with a complete education that includes music.
- Gerald Ford
Where to Start?
Getting started with band can seem difficult, but we will help you every step of the way. We have helped thousands of families go through the process and we will help your family go through our carefully planned steps, too.

Try the Instruments
All 5th grade students will participate in our "Try the Instruments" event during the school day. This event will be held March 16, 2017 and is an opportunity for all students to find out which instrument is a good fit for them. We've learned over the years that students need guidance in selecting an instrument. The truth is, the instrument chooses the student. Every person has different qualities from facial features to physical size that can make some instruments a better match than others. Our goal, is to help your child find the instrument that they are most naturally able to play. Finding the right fit makes learning to play an instrument much more fun. We bring in professional musicians (who are also band directors) to help students try out the instruments. This way, when your child is trying an instrument, they are getting help and advice from an expert. We have done this for many years and have found this to be our greatest strength in the instrument selection process. Most students quickly realize that they are naturals at some instruments, but not others and they want to learn one of the instruments they felt the most comfortable playing. |

Instrument Recommendations
After students try the instruments, they will rank their top 3 choices. The Instrument Fitting Form with their top 3 choices will come home first. Later, students will receive an Instrument Recommendation Certificate with information to enroll for band. Recommendations will be distributed after spring break. Recommendations are based on the following things:
Instrument needs and limitation plays a huge factor in the recommendation process because high quality bands require a variety of instruments. We can't allow 50% of students play the clarinet no matter how awesome it is. *Some instruments have a more limited number of positions available (i.e. Alto Saxophone, Baritone, Tuba & Percussion) |

Instrument Rental Night
Once students have enrolled in band, we will help you get an instrument. The Instrument Rental Night event will be held on April 13, 2017 in the Eagle Glen Gymnasium. You can secure your child's instrument on this night (either purchase or rent-to-own) and begin making payments once your child begins playing (either summer school or the beginning of the school year). Ray-Pec partners with Meyer Music Company. Meyer Music offers a great selection of high quality instruments within several price ranges. Most families choose the rental option from Meyer Music. The rental program allows you to make monthly payments over a period of the time. Once payments are completed, you own the instrument. This option has many benefits:
