​MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF THE
RAYMORE-PECULIAR BAND BOOSTERS CLUB, INC.
January 10, 2017
 
The regular meeting of the Raymore-Peculiar Band Boosters Club was held near the band room of the South Raymore-Peculiar High School building.  Those in attendance were: Dana Wilhite, Robert Hacker, Elizabeth Craig, Sherry Dubois, Melissa Hogan, Allison Bruflat, Tracy Caskey, Julie Adolphson, Jen Inman, Angela Weis, Scott Bradley, Sandi Williams, Michael Poe, Siska Poe, Tamarah Pritchard, Cloey Pritchard.
 
The meeting was called to order by President Allison Bruflat at 7:27 p.m.
 

• Introductions
• Objectives of the Bylaws:
  • Assist the RP Band program and directors
  • Promote enthusiasm and commitment to band among students, parents, school board and communities
  • Support instrumental music education throughout the district
  • To raise funds to finance or partially finance activities related to music education
• Respect and consideration for our time and work

 
Meeting Minutes Approval: 

• The minutes from the November 2016 meeting were reviewed
• A motion to approve the minutes was made by Tracy Caskey, seconded by Sherry Dubois; the motion carried.

 
Treasurer’s Report:  Tracy Caskey

• Tracy distributed transactions(11/06/2016 – 1/09/2017); General fund currently has $22,926.20
• Band Fees still owed: $4,131.16
• A motion to accept the treasurer’s report was made by Jen Inman, seconded by Melissa Hogan; the motion carried.

 
Committee Reports:
Bylaws The bylaws will not be updated this year. Let Allison know if you are interested in a committee to review for next year.
 
Chuckwagon Angela Weis

• Large Ensemble (Pizza) for March 24. Angela will get volunteers if needed.
• Cake for End of year program; Mr. Wilson said that will be taken care of.

Fall Football Programs Allison Bruflat for Jennifer Scrivener

• Process begins again Summer 2017
• Allison suggests we have kids sell ads

Father/Daughter Dance Sherry Dubois and Melissa Hogan

• February 4, 2017 in North Building; Flyers have been sent and are coming back
• Allison posted the flyer on FB after the meeting
• Sherry will set up sign-up genius for cookies and parent helpers
• Photos will be done by Pearce, Inc. The photos will be sent to school(s) the week after the dance.

Field Crew/Band Dads

• Blankets need to be taken out of trailer and washed; Jen Inman will coordinate
• Color/Winter Guard will use small trailer for competitions

Big Daddy’s Donuts  Allison Bruflat

• May want to do this again in Spring 2017

Trash Bags

• April in 2016
• Delivered at Band Awards
• Need someone to coordinate

Band Uniforms: Jen Inman

• Marching uniforms will be cleaned maybe during Spring Break?
• We discussed the need for garment bags, including longer ones for color guard; this will be budgeted for at the end of school year.
• Concert Wear: We have no spare dresses. Other items discussed (pants, ties, cumberbunds) were ordered and received. A motion was made by Melissa Hogan, seconded by Tracy Caskey, to buy 2 shrugs for dresses that are missing them. The motion carried.
• We discussed the current dresses (5-6 yrs old). Each dress is $78, and the shrug jacket is $45. It was decided to keep this design, and revisit whether to order more for symphonic and concert girls.

Spirit Wear: Sherry Dubois

• We need to do this earlier (band camp?)

 
Old Business:

• Early Fundraising for fees
• Student Involvement

In the interest of time (meeting started late due to 8th Grade Band Meeting), we will revisit the above next time.
 
New Business:
Color Guard Report  Sandi Williams

• Winter Guard will use NY scrims for their upcoming competitions.

Shoe Fundraiser Mr. Wilson

• This is something other schools do, and raise a lot of money
• People bring in old shoes (any type) in wearable condition
• Shoes are then bundled and sold
• No decision was made at this time; will continue to discuss

Band Extraveganza Allison Bruflat

• Committee Members needed.
• Allison will drafted a survey (done).
• Need to start planning in February.

Elections for 2017-18 School Year

• Positions: President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer
• Committees: Chuckwagon, Father/Daughter Dance, Uniforms, Band Dads

Director’s Report: Mr. Wilson:

• Two jazz bands practicing for competitions in Feb/Mar.
• Solo/Ensemble music out and students working.
• Wind and Brass Ensembles forming Tue/Thu (wind); Wed/Fri (brass) at 6:30am.
• Percussion going to Iowa (Houston)
• Large Ensemble 3/24

 
Meeting adjourned at 8:13 p.m.  Next meeting 2/14/2017 at 7pm in HS Band room.
