​The regular meeting of the Raymore-Peculiar Band Boosters Club was held in the vocal music room of the South Raymore-Peculiar High School building.  Those in attendance were John Bruflat, Cyndee Byous, Sherri Jungman, Jessica Kawakami, Colleen Mohn, Kellie Norton, Kim Robert, Edgar Rodriguez, Claudia Rodriguez, Mary Rycken, Penny Scott, Kim Sickler, Scott Bradley, James Spruill, Lydmarie Spruill, Tammy Sumner, Chris Wilhite, Elizabeth Craig, Amanda McVay, Melissa Hogan, Celia Squires, Angela Weiss, Sandi Williams, John Wilson, Dillon Jarrett, Jennifer Gibson, Travis Houston, Allison Bruflat, Tracy Caskey, Julie Adolphson, Alec Adolphson, Doug Adolphson and Dana Wilhite.
 
There was an informal reception for Freshman Band Parents at 6:30pm.
 
The meeting was called to order by President Allison Bruflat at 7:03 p.m.

Meeting Minutes Approval: 

• The minutes from the June 2016 meeting were reviewed
• A motion to approve the minutes was made by Cyndee Byous, seconded by Sherri Jungman; the motion carried

 
Treasurer’s Report:  Tracy Caskey

• Tracy distributed June transactions and year-end report; clarified the -$14,983.47 is the student accounts’ balance.
• A motion to accept the minutes was made by Kellie Norton, seconded by Melissa Hogan; the motion carried

 
Fundraising:

• We have many fundraisers; most of the revenue comes from band parents
• Cyndee Byous presented a potential fundraiser which included a “monopoly game” created from local businesses and sold in local stores
  • Potential $27,500 profit
  • Ads (spaces) should be easy to sell
  • Need a bank to sponsor the “money”
  • We would need a design by end of July
  • Begin sales by mid-Sep
  • Approve artwork and final layout by Oct
  • There was a lot of discussion/questions
  • A committee was formed: Melissa Hogan, Sherry Dubois, Scott Sickler, Cyndee Byous (Team Leam)

  • Dana Wilhite will be Team Lead
  • $15 each pot; 5 colors
  • Forms will go out in August

Band Dads (and Moms): Chris Wilhite

• Thursday nights and Friday home games, we will need help moving equipment to field
• Need help to build props at John and Allison Bruflat’s house; date/time TBD
• We need to paint and caulk band shed; scouts can not climb ladders
• Would like to have T-shirts that say “Field Crew”

Band Uniforms: Allison Bruflat

• Uniforms have been cleaned and will be delivered on Wed 7/13; need help at 9am to sort
• Pictures, August 4
• Sorting will be done Thursday, July 21st, 7am (should take 2-3 hours)
• Fitting will be done Tuesday, July 26th , noon (until all are fitted) this is also Chipotle night
• Volunteers needed to take uniforms home and bring back NLT August 2.
• Shoe sale will be same day as fitting

Chuckwagon: Angela Weis

• Pizza on last day of Band Camp
• Shaved Ice on Fridays
• Kellie Norton providing pre-ordered lunches; or students need to bring lunches
• Dietary needs?  Contact Angela
• For marching season: Plan to feed 130
• Family picnic: August 11, RSVP due last day of Band Camp.

Trailer Modifications Update: Doug Adolphson

• August 13, 8am, at Trailer location. Doughnuts/juice in morning, pizza for lunch
• Painting racks for uniforms, installing new ramps, mudflaps, re-arranging shelving

Director’s Report
 
Band Camp: Mr. Wilson

• July 18-29, 7am-2pm; North HS (due to construction)
• Outside activities will end by around 10:30am to account for heat conditions
• Ms. Gibson made a list of necessary items to bring to camp; see website
• Physicals are needed to be allowed to participate
• If students need rides, they should help by talking to a director or other students
• Parents are encouraged to watch, especially Thursday evening practices (630p-830p)
• Water jug and notebook/pencil needed; and SUNSCREEN
• Travis Houston: Drumline Camp has gone very well
• Show will be New York theme
• Genesis Drum and Bugle Corp: July 17th. Newsletter has details and invite
• Kids not in marching band should practice district music
• Website: RPbands.com; please read newsletter; it has important information
• Volunteers will need have background check $12; available on HS website

 
Other Business: Allison Bruflat

• Registration Table for Band; Jul 27 and Aug 2
• Allison will staff, would like help
• Switching to new Registering Agent: Motion to change to Lynn Laffoon was made by Cyndee Byous, seconded by Kim Robert; motion carried. Official Statement for new registering agent: RayPec Band Boosters will switch from Van Hooser and Efftink to Lynn Laffoon as their new “Registered Filing Agent” for annual registration with the Missouri Secretary of State Office.
