MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF THE
RAYMORE-PECULIAR BAND BOOSTERS CLUB, INC.
February 12, 2019

The regular meeting of the Raymore-Peculiar Band Boosters Club was held in the cafeteria at South Middle School.  Those in attendance were: Melissa Hogan, Trina Westhues, Kelli Hurley, Faye Tait, Catie Howlett, John Wilson, Libby Craig, Tamarah Pritchard, Diana Edgecomb, Tara Spencer


The meeting was called to order by Kelli Hurley at 7:04pm

• Introductions
  
• Meeting Expectations and Bylaws Objectives:
  
  • Assist the RP Band program and directors
    
  • Promote enthusiasm and commitment to band among students, parents, school board and communities
    
• Support instrumental music education throughout the district
  
• To raise funds to finance or partially finance activities related to music education
  

Business Reports:  

• The minutes from the January 8, 2019  meeting were reviewed. Motion to approve minutes -Faye Tait, seconded Trina Westhues. No discussion
  

Treasurer’s  Report: Faye Tait and Diana Edgecomb

• Problems with access to Community Bank website-unable to balance books for this meeting
  
• Cancellation for the Nashville Trip will be accessed a $36 fee
  
• Should we make it a policy that we only take checks for fundraisers- parents should change any cash into checks to turn in.
  
• The directors have been able to get the report with the breakdown of who has paid what for the Nashville Trip.
  

Committee Reports:

Color Guard-

• Girls have good attitudes
  
• Jennifer (coach) is a little disappointed in the placements so far
  
• She is reteaching skills
  
• Are they going to do a clinic like the Prowlers or cheerleaders to try to get more people interested?
  

Fundraising -Kelli Hurley

• We need a Chair
  
• Father/Daughter Dance-Kelli Hurley
  

Students earned approximately $13/hour. Dads especially enjoyed the theme. Photographer was fairly expensive.

Director’s Report:

• 2nd Nashville band going well
  
• Jazz bands doing well
  
• Started marching band meetings to plan for next year. Kids don’t want everyone to have to march, they want proficiency, no one interested will be dropped, but may be given other jobs. They are thinking of doing a week in June for tryouts and to finalize numbers for the drill writers.
  
• Contest-Plan to have playoff for spots for district solos and ensembles due to only being allowed 55 spots.  Students playing at the precontest event only can fulfill the lettering requirement.
  
• Nashville Trip- Itinerary should be locked in by Monday, Feb 18
  
• Mattress Fundraiser- $500 given for adults attending meeting and $1000 bonus based on sales. Motion was made to use this extra money for food in Nashville by Kelli Hurley and seconded by Trina Westhues. Motion passed
  
• Rooming Assignments for Nashville posted on back of band door.
  

New Business

• Eden Craig presented an idea of a Student Leadership Committee for next year’s Father Daughter Dance to work alongside the Parent Committee. She will prepare an application for the students. Catie Howlett offered to have it printed
