RAYMORE-PECULIAR BAND BOOSTERS CLUB, INC. February 9, 2016 The regular meeting of the Raymore-Peculiar Band Boosters Club was held on February 9, 2016 in the auditorium in the South Raymore-Peculiar High School building. Dr. Monsees discussed the upcoming bond issue. bond issue plan: *April 5, 2016 there will be a no-tax-rate-increase bond issue *this will include funding to build a high school building addition to allow all high school students to attend school in one building as well as an Early Childhood Center *there is an aggressive timeline; would like to try to have this completed by Fall 2017 *this would be an 8-10 year solution or beyond *this would provide for the high school students to be in one building as well as provide for a more permanent structure for the Early Childhood programs *the high school south addition would add about 100,000 square feet *the north high school would become a second middle school for grades 6-8 *the following schools would be elementary schools K-5: Bride Ridge, Eagle Glen, Peculiar, Stonegate, Raymore, Timber Creek and Creekmoor *Schull would become the Early Childhood Center *overpass work will help with access to the campus *school boundaries will have to be reorganized *estimated cost for these changes would be $27 million through a no-tax-rate-increase bond issue; no increase to the current debt service levy required *estimated costs: $20 million high school, $1 million Bridle Ridge/Eagle Glen *January-March 2016 would be time for preliminary design work *April 2016-voter approval of bond issue *Fall 2017 construction would be complete *new boundaries and staff adjustments will be made *register to vote for this election now through March 9th *for more information: www.raypec.k12.mo.us/index.aspx?NID=1035 *for information regarding the long range facility plan: www.raypec.k12.mo.us/index.aspx?NID=981 *for questions, contact Dr. Kari Monsees or Mr. Jay Harris proposed layout changes: *larger band room with more storage *2 -story band storage room *new stage craft room *will also have some practice rooms hopefully *band room will have garage doors leading outside *north end of the south high school will have a 2-story addition; will also have a library/media center as well *upstairs portion will be a freshman center; additional classrooms will be on the lower level *an auxiliary gym will be added on the south end of the high school *plans are still changing *check school website next week to find out more information *project will also improve traffic patterns at the high school; there will be a separate bus loop and parent pick-up/drop-off area question and answer: *there was a question from the audience about band classes being at the same time with one band room; this would have to be worked on through class scheduling *band concerts would still have to be held in larger spaces such as the gym *construction zones will have to be set up during the process; may have to increase passing time *Spring and Summer 2017 will be a busy time *there was a question regarding when the original loan would expire; it was set to expire in 2023; the bond issue will extend that by 7-8 years *the District will be sharing more information with the community through emails, information sent home with students, etc. *a question was asked regarding keeping the freshmen together; the freshmen will be kept together for the core classes but will be able to access the rest of the high school as well *the Board will share boundary change information as soon as possible *about half of the north parking lot will be taken for the addition Mattress Fundraiser: Andrew Owings Mr. Wilson introduced Mr. Owings from Custom Fundraising Solutions. mattress sale: *mattress sale will be on March 12 at Eagle Glen from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. *best ways to promote the sale: talk to people social media (Facebook: Join the event and invite others; Twitter: @cfskansascity #beds4raypec) posters and fliers texting *last year $5,500 raised; sold 40-42 beds *this a good fundraiser because: not a guilt purchase, no pressure sales, lower costs because it is not retail, can make money for the band and save customers money *CFS sets up, provides advertising materials and tears down *they sell brands including Simmons Beauty Sleep and Restonic *offer non-prorated warranty/full replacement *offer delivery and haul-away services *customer pick up also available in Lenexa *prices from $250-$2000; $700-900 is the average purchase *5000 fliers have been printed; put your student’s name on the fliers to get a referral bonus as a credit to student account; see breakdown below *$50 off coupon on fliers; can be used for free delivery *yard signs are available *Facebook link: text TIGER to 913-210-0550 Money for Band: Twin mattress: $50 Full / queen mattress: $75 King mattress: $100 Volume Bonuses: 25 Beds: $250 30 Beds: $500 40 Beds: $1,000 50 Beds: $1,500 60 Beds: $2,000 Student Referral Bonuses: 1 referral mattress purchase: $25 2 referral mattress purchases: $50 3 referral mattress purchases: $100 4 referral mattress purchases: $150 5 referral mattress purchases: $300 Every referral purchase after 5 is additional $50. President’s Report: Kellie Norton physicals for marching band students: *marching band students will need physicals for the next school year; school physical night is 2/24/16; physicals for $15 volunteering: *committee needed to plan meals for Band Extravaganza 5/5/16 and 5/6/16 *committee needed for Executive Board nominations for next year fundraising: *El Dorado: 3/16/16; need 4-5 parents to help per hour; all-you-can-eat-buffet *Culver’s night: 4/13/16; need 4-5 parents to help per hour *Father-Daughter Dance: need cookies for Father-Daughter Dance on Saturday, February 13th; sign up on Sign-up Genius *this is a student fundraiser and a band booster fundraiser *need helpers for coat check, parking (bring flashlight), crafts, cookie table *last year had 560 girls and their fathers; expect the same number this year New Business: Eagle Scout project proposal: *Doug Adolphson proposed an Eagle Scout project for improvements to make the trailer more efficient *ideas include: moving the uniforms to the back, making a uniform rack, changing the shelf handles, improving ramps, reorganizing shelves for oversize instruments and adjustments to the mud flaps *could get 35-40 people to split up these projects and get it all done quickly *Eagle Scout is responsible for figuring out funding and getting donations *Doug will put together a budget and present it to the Executive Board before we vote John Wilson expressed his gratitude for people attending the meeting and asked that people please volunteer.
