 MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF THE
RAYMORE-PECULIAR BAND BOOSTERS CLUB, INC
        April 12,2022

The regular meeting of the Raymore-Peculiar Band Boosters Club was held in the band room. Those in attendance were: Libby Craig, Jennifer Story, Graham Deckard, Marian Pfeiler, Lisa Sorge, Bobbi Bond, Jonah Craig, Jenna Craig, Eden Craig, Jacob Thompson, Chris Thompson, Leann Thompson, Michelle Helzer, Melissa Guyer. The meeting was called to order by Jennifer Story at 7:02pm.

  • Assist the RP Band program and directors
    
  • Promote enthusiasm and commitment to band among students, parents, school board and communities
    
• Support instrumental music education throughout the district
  
• To raise funds to finance or partially finance activities related to music education
  

Business Reports:  

• Motion to approve minutes from March booster meeting made by Jennifer Story, seconded by Lisa Sorge
  

Director Report: Graham Deckard-Jennifer Gibson at support Staff Recognition Dinner since she nominated Dinah Covey.

• Large Group Ensemble is 3/24 at Pleasant Hill High School. Wind Symphony and Symphonic Band both got Exemplary Ratings. Concert Band unable to perform due to too many members not available due to Spring Break plans. Medals will be awarded at Band Awards on 5/24
  
• 4/29-Exemplary rated students go to Mizzou for State Solos and Ensembles. Can Band Boosters help with providing breakfast? 26 students plus 4 adults. Bobbi has it on her calendar, Students will also receive $15 each for lunch/dinner from the district. Performance times have not been released from MSHSAA yet. Probably leaving around 5am.
  
• 5/9- Final Band Concert 6pm Concert band, Jazz 2, Symphonic Band, Jazz 1, Wind Symphony. We will need band parents to help with resets. SIgn up Genius should be coming out soon.
  
• 5/24- Band Awards Banquet- all students and families invited to attend. Cake/Punch provided by Boosters? 100 plus kids will receive medals plus parents/families= 250-300 people estimate. Theater has been reserved for this event.
  
• Marching Band Fees- Fall of 2020 and 2021-if not paid- put on a waiting list.  Fees must be paid by 4/30 in order to be eligible to be part of the drill.  Drill has to be ordered 5/2. Families will be contacted to make them aware of the benevolence program.
  
• 2022/23 Marching Band fees- New Member $360 Returning Members $305. If they need/want new shoes ($30) or Hoodie/T-Shirt ($25) they can purchase them. Other itemized fees include: Black Crew Socks-$15, Glove $5, Uniform Cleaning $15, Chuckwagon $100, Trailer/Semi maintenance $50, Show Props $30, Rehearsal Techs $70, Ultimate Drill Book Subscription $20. Color Guard fees are TBD.
  
• Kelsey Walker has been hired as the Fall Color Guard instructor.  She made a good 1st impression at her interview.  She has been the current Winter Guard coach.
  

Treasurer Report:  Marian

• Account totals-$53,000 in Checking/Savings
  
• Gateway has sent check for 2 refunds for Hawaii trip,
  
• Received some requests to pay Gateway from band accounts
  

Uniforms: Lisa Sorge

• We have started breaking down bags. Cleaners need a 2 week lead time and only pick up on Wednesdays from 9-11. The goal is to get them back while kids are still here to help. They will invoice us. Plan is to have Juniors/Sophomores, and Freshman returning marchers to rebuild their bags when the uniforms are returned.
  
• Lisa has someone in mind to head up uniforms next year, but not sure if it will pan out.
  

Fundraising Committee-Mindy Muller unable to attend- presented by Jennifer Story

• Donation Fundraiser- Band Angel- they take 10%, we get 90%. Everyone has their own profiles, so donations can go to student accounts. There is a 2 week timeline. Best approach is to make a fun video with the kids in it.  Due to timing, will try to have the band directors put together a video.  Plan to kickoff around 4/21 or 4/22 ending 5/5 or ⅚.
  

Color Guard-

• New coach hired for Fall Guard
  

Band Dads: Jason Heuwinkel

• No updates
  
• Directors would like for the band dads to look into purchasing a gator new or used to help with pulling the flatbed trailer at competitions and football games. Marian was asked to come up with a budget.
  

Chuckwagon: 

• Need budget for providing breakfast for State Solos/Ensembles
  
• Cake/Punch for Band Awards
  
• Senior Gift- Jen Story working on this.
  

New Business.

• Parent survey for committee positions for next year needs to be sent out ASAP.
  
• Need to figure out payment plan for Band Fees.
  
• Can we put out an interest survey for Band boosters in the Program for Middle School concerts which are planned for May 17 and May 19?
